Opening the kiln

There are few events in the studio more exciting than opening the kiln.

One of the best parts of a day at the studio

Besides greeting and talking to our collectors, our favorite part of a day at the studio is when it’s time to open the kiln. It’s the anticipation and wonder of seeing the results of Mark’s efforts.

So fresh it’s still hot

Sometimes Mark opens the kiln while the pots are still too hot to handle. Oven mitts are a necessity then. It’s worth it to get to see the new items while they’re still fresh.

A new addition to the shelves

After the item cools, Mark sands the bottom and prepares it for the shelves. It’s great to see every new piece and bask in satisfaction of creating something new.

Stop by the gallery soon to see all the new pieces. You might even get to see Mark opening the kiln!
