Island life: deep cleans & fresh mugs

Sarah is teaching this week, so here’s a message from Mark:

Fresh batch of mugs in the works

Just finished a fresh batch of Key West mugs for Key West Collective, 720 Caroline St. While I was glazing the last one, it hit me: life down here has its own funny little rhythm.

June and July? We all heave a big sigh of relief. They’re gone! After all, how can we miss them if they don’t go away? August and September? They’re basically “island maintenance months.” Restaurants close for deep cleans and face-lifts, shops stock up like squirrels prepping for tourist season, and everyone’s either buzzing with excitement… or hiding from the thought of snowbird crowds. (Depends on who you ask 😅).

I kind of love it. That pause before the wave. The quiet hum of anticipation. It feels like my studio’s in sync with the island—restocking, refreshing, getting ready for the season ahead.

And that’s exactly the spirit I poured into these mugs: a little slice of Key West rhythm you can hold in your hands.

☀️ You can grab one at Key West Collective, 720 Caroline St. Key West

Even if you’re not here, I hope it brings you a taste of the island—one sip at a time.
