Shade Ceramics and Shutter Photography is a tranquil gallery featuring the modern functional ceramics of Mark Klammer and the soulful photography of Sarah Carleton in a contemporary working studio.
Mark started working in ceramics in the 1990s in Ithaca, NY. After meeting Sarah, he moved to Hammondsport, NY and started Mark Klammer Pottery. Mark became a Roycroft artisan and participated in many prestigious art shows throughout the Northeast, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show. He has also won several awards.
Sarah has loved and practiced photography for decades. Since retiring from the corporate world in 2014, she has focused on creating a body of work featuring the beauty of Key West, especially the natural world of Fort Zachary Taylor State Park.
We had a vision for a tranquil art showroom and working ceramics studio, featuring our ceramics and photography that are intended to augment your sense of light, modern, functional, rustic, serene, uncluttered living. That vision was fulfilled when we opened our gallery in December 2018. We are grateful to be here in Key West, with its natural beauty and wonderful people.
Everyone is welcome to visit our working studio at 1102 White Street in Key West!
